The method of inbreeding was used for many years; only recently problems associated with inbreeding were discovered. They are: crossed eyes, spine curvature, a high rate of abortions and stillbirths, shorter lifespan. Today, these animals are hybridized with members of other subspecies.

There is a small quantity of such animal; only about 500 of them are registered. The majority of them are kept in zoos; in the wild, they are born very rarely. In captivity, these animals are selected to produce the offspring with such a unique color.
