White variety of the breed is very rare and very popular. Such animals are raised in zoos, but in the wild they are born once in every 10,000 births. When two white animals are bred, their offspring is prone to various breeding depressions, such as shorter life span, crossed eyes, curvature of the spine.

Their population continuously declines due to illegal hunting and habitat destruction. These animals require large home ranges to hunt.
